Mrs Belle Becker
January 26th 39
Dear Mrs Becker,
I arranged with U. Hunt that he re-edits “Pastor Hall”. U. Hunt is the director of the Abbey Theatre, who has done “Blind Man’s Buff”. He is a playwright himself and understands and speaks German fluently.
He hopes to achieve the work in about two weeks’ time.
I am also writing so Steven Spender to explain matters. I shall suggest that the play shall read as follows:
“Pastor Hall” by Ernst Toller; translated by Steven Spender; edited for the stage by U. Hunt.
Or have you another suggestion?
I wanted to thank you and Mr. Saxe Commins for your great kindness and cooperation which meant so much to me.
Yours sincerely
