Dear Mrs. Palencia,
Unfortunately I could stay one day in Copenhagen, as the Studentersamfund in Oslo had arranged a meeting for monday night, and I had to take a private plane from Gothenburg, not to arrive in time, but at 9.30 p. m. The meeting had a great respond.
In Copenhagen I spoke with the President of the trade unions who promised me to send a letter of support, signed by the official leaders of the Danish trade unions. The President of the Danish Help Committee, Mr. Hedtoft Hansen, promised me to get in touch with the Danish foreign minister, so he may inform me through the Danish legation in Oslo of the activities of the Danish Government. If necessary, I will go back to Copenhagen.
I have just had a talk with the Norwegian Foreign Minister, Mr. Koht, who will submit the proposal to the council of ministers. It seems that the Norwegian Parliament will take the same attitude as the Swedish.
At one p. m. I shall talk for the leaders of the Norwegian trade unions, as soon as I have your results I shall inform you. Did you read the attack in the nazi paper “ Angriff ”? It is rather useful.

P. S. I proposed the participation may be in the form of food-stuff: bacalao, milk, herrings, so that the Government in such a case could do two things: buy the stuff from Norwegian fishers and farmers – it would be a help for them; and send the food to Spain – it would also be help for the Spaniards.
The situation in Norway is as follows:
Fish.
Herrings. 1936: Total production: 1 050 000 tons. Value: 81 mill. Norw. Kr. Consumption in Norway ca. 15%.
Butter: now market difficulties. Production probably 2–3 mill. tons this year. Wholesale price: ca. 3.00 Norw. Kr. the Kilo.
