Dear Mr. Roberts,

as I have already told you over the phone I felt very miserable that you had to remind me of my debt towards the society. If one comes to ask for advice one is glad to get it but quite forgets, that the society too needs money for its work. I am enclosing a cheque over

£ 3/-/-

At the same time I come at once to ask for help. From a cutting which I enclose I learned, that my play “Masses and Man” was done in Sydney. The Drama Group never asked for my permission and I think it would be only justified if you could get a small sum for it. I leave it to you to nominate the sum.

Please remember me to Mr. Rubinstein and give him too my apologies.

Yours sincerely

Ernst Toller.
