Carl von Ossietzky (* 3. Oktober 1889 in Hamburg; † 4. Mai 1938 in Berlin) war ein deutscher Journalist, Schriftsteller und Pazifist. Als Herausgeber der Zeitschrift Die Weltbühne wurde er im international aufsehenerregenden Weltbühne-Prozess 1931 wegen Spionage verurteilt, weil seine Zeitschrift auf die verbotene Aufrüstung der Reichswehr aufmerksam gemacht hatte. Ossietzky erhielt 1936 rückwirkend den Friedensnobelpreis für das Jahr 1935.

Dear Naomi,
I regret so much to tell you that I am not well. For many weeks I have been unable to work or to do anything for Rosalinde. –
I should be so grateful to Mr. Curry, if he would keep her at school. He wrote once that 5 pounds is necessary for each term; I shall be pleased if you will write and tell him that I will hold myself responsible for payment. As soon as I am able to return to England I will look after the child again. I am soo sad that I am unable to do so at present. For the sake of the father who is going through such bad times at present, it is absolutely necessary that the child is looked after. –
